15' SAWFISH TAGGED IN THE GULF
Photos Courtesy Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. Rookerybay.org

Tagged by fisheries biologist Pat O'Donnell. Pat tags and maps sawfish and juvenile sharks in the Ten Thousand Islands estuary downstream of the Picayune Strand Restoration Project. You can see the monofilament noose and the deep gash that it left on its head. Pat cut the noose off, measured, tagged, and took samples & then set it free. The rostrum is HUGE!
