11/27/10 Puerto Rico

On the way to Rincon we stopped in downtown Aguadia. TD and his son Christian had never seen Gas Chambers.
On the way we noticed Mr. Ed hanging out in a not so beautiful part of the neighborhood...

The swell was here this day as we venture into Rincon

Tres Palmas was just starting to work, but not quite enough swell for it to do it's thing on this day

This was the view of the Maria's lineup from the lighthouse

Offshore winds, overhead swell, it looked to be a great day! The crowd factor in Rincon however the weekend of Thanksgiving was on the heavy side.

Beautiful peaks with backed brushed lips all day at Maria's

The Top of the point at Indicators was unreal this day, just dont f**k up here, you miss your takeoff, you'll get tossed staright into the sharpest reef and you might have an early end to your vacation.

Pinchos (bbq chicken on a stick), staple surf grinds.

wave after wave pealed perfectly down the point

The bigger sets were pushing well overhead. Timing the groms paddle out was tricky, but he made it out with us as we walked around the rocks on the right and paddled straight out

once you made it out, it was all long turqoise lines

And on the other side of the point this was the view looking at playa Domes (you can see the Dome on the right)

Here's the grom as he contemplates the paddle out

you can see alot of different waves from this vantage point.

Christian Daniels (the grom) and his dad Tommy Daniels

Power balance bracelet, psssh… no way! The locals said if I lick this cactus it gives you super powers...
only made me look like a dumb gringo. jk.

Clapper, after he licked a few cactus needed a little support to stand straight

Surf check

"Hey pop why do they call this steps beach?"... c'mon kid!

It didn't take long for c-dillers to have a local admirer. Look at TD laughing in the background

Coco Frio mucho bueno

The original tropical energy drink

Taking the  grom on his first surf trip entails thorough explanation of each break and setup.
Where to paddle out, and in. And where to sit in the line up.

beach scene in Rincon

Desecheo. A little mountain sticking straight up from the water around 15 miles West of Rincon.

A set wave at Indicators.

Soaring at Indicators.

Beautiful left hander down at Maria's.

And another one…

An Indicator freight train.

Bush buddy.

This view from the cliff doesnt do the size justice, there were some bombs on this day.

And there were barrels for the patient ones.

And plenty of lip-smacking.

TD overwhelmed with stoke, hard to get him out of the water when the waves are good.

Early morning low tide saw some great barrels for those willing not to dodge them. This guy repas the rewards.

TD had new board jitters on this morning, but he found a speedy line.

After a few leg burners down the point TD regains his composure.

Didn't take long to have his new board dialed in

steps

Rincon has some of the most scenic real estate in the world.

Maria's bottom- top turn combo.

the grizzly adams look-alike was just killing it.

TD snags a good set wave from the top of the point.

Another drainer rounds "la punta"

The view from Colypso Bar @ Maria's in Rincon. The perfect spot for killing a couple Madallias and watching
the surf inbetween your sessions

With this day winding down we were back at the bar killing some more Madillias and watching
all types of people catching good waves for the rest of the day...

Sunset at Maria's in Rincon.
