8/22/07 Hurricane Dean WFL

Many people were out waiting for the waves to come Tuesday night, but the gulf remained flat as a lake. But anyone who surfed Hurricane Emily in 2005 knew the drill, it was just a matter of waiting before the swell filled in through the channel.

Lots of time to wait between sets as WFL got it's first pulse from Hurricane Dean's
long period groundswell across the gulf.

It took awhile for the big sets to roll in…If you were patient enough there would be some chest-shoulder high sets even here in St. Pete where it barely goes off like this anymore.
We're lucky to see waves like this a couple time a year.

A beautiful empty shoulder high set wave…

If you ever see anything like this breaking outside in St. Pete,
it's probably going off somewhere in WFL!

Greg Agerskov was out enjoying a morning session before he opened the doors to
Surfshack Surfshop and slaved the rest of the day like the rest of us 9-5'ers…

This pic was sent in…a local surfer enjoying his secret spot
