Rocket Launch 8/30/20

SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket launch and landing from 7:18pm. Viewed from Cocoa Beach.

What was different? This was the first polar launch from Cape Canaveral since 1960. Instead of traveling east over the ocean this one went south in order to get a spy satellite into a polar orbit. The satellite will orbit around the North and South poles — which is better for imaging, spy and weather satellites. The last polar launch in November of 1960, skirted down the coast of Florida past Miami Beach and fell apart over Cuba. Fidel Castro sold the fallen rocket parts to his communist allies in Russia and China which greatly aided their ability to develop ballistic missile capabilities.
