Satellite Beach One Week After Hurricane Nicole 11/18/22

With a ton of sand sucked out to sea, there's a lot more reef noticeable on the beach. Photo taken from low tide.

This was a rebuild from a single family house taken form Frances/Jeanne back in 2004.
The previous house was the poster of child for hurricane damage. Then they built this beast.

Seems like a new game everyday. Sometimes beach accesses are boarded, sometimes just taped off

Volusia county maybe ground zero for storm surge but Satellite Beach took on the eye wall of Hurricane Nicole.
5 feet of storm surge on top of king tides adding a couple extra feet to the surge. I've talked with people that have lived here since the 1960's and never have seen the beach erosion this bad. Hurricane Nicole was only a Cat 1.

Judging from the date on this notice, this building may have been condemned in south Satellite Beach just after Ian.
But Nicole definitely didn't help. Looks like all their belongings are still in this house.

(Above) taken 11/11 one day after Hurricane Nicole. Water was up to the recently built Oceana.
A failed seawall on the next building north didn't help the sand dune hold up here. This building
is ironically still livable. The water has receded since, but it's a crazy sight for sure.
